About Us

Officially our title is “Region 85 Cumbria and the Borders” of the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club (JEC) (Click here or the logo below to visit the JEC Website) however we refer to ourselves as The Solway Jaguar Club. We currently have in the region of seventy members from all walks of life owning anything from a 1936 SS, a pristine XK150 or a standard X300 to a F-Type or XJ and everything in between, most models seem to be represented within the club in one form or another, not everything is pristine and gleaming. There are also some great projects belonging to members and some interesting replicas that have been painstakingly crafted over the years.

We are quite an active club with social meetings for members on the first Tuesday of each month (with the exception of January). These are currently held at Penrith Golf Club (CA11 8SG), just off the A6 at Junction 41 of the M6 North of Penrith with a 19.30 arrival for a 20.00 start.

We try to offer variety at club meetings and activities for the evenings can vary from guest speakers, quiz nights, treasure hunts or a drive out to having a meal together with an after dinner speaker. There is always time for members to have a drink and a chat and in the lighter evenings a wander around the car park to see each others cars, or even go out for a spin.

In addition the club will often organise days out, recent events have included a trip to a local engineering firm, Complete Engineering, a number of car shows throughout last summer were attended by members and a couple of drives were organised followed by a pub meal and a guided tour around EON’s biomass station Steven’s Croft was enjoyed by a number of club members.

Looking ahead we have a number of shows throughout the summer months and an invite to P V Dobsons to try out some of their demonstrators and enjoy the British Grand Prix on a large screen. No doubt another ride out with a meal will be organised as these prove popular and it’s nice to see members using their cars.

There is also plenty of technical advice available within the club and those willing to help as a number of us have restored and rebuilt various models.

Some members don’t currently have a Jaguar although they usually have fond memories of owning one in the past. What you will find at our club is a group of keen friendly motorists who are generally enthusiastic about all types of cars simply having in common an interest in Jaguars amongst other Marques too.

We would be delighted to welcome you at one of the club nights or activities, if you require any more information please feel free to contact any of the committee members  or alternatively you are more than welcome just to turn up at a club night.
