After 3 week's rain we were blessed with lovely weather for this event and 7 of the 8 cars met at The Rosehill Car Park, Carlisle and Malcolm handed out the Road Books.  The route took us on the old road passed Metal Bridge and then west along the B721 passed Eastriggs and Dornock before joining the B7020 north passing Castle Loch and stopping for lunch at Moffat.  We then drove up the A701 passed Devil's Beef Tub before taking the little road passed Talla & Megget Reservoirs and then St Mary's Loch. We then turned north towards Selkirk, Peebles and finally at The Horseshoe Inn Eddleston.

The Horseshoe Inn used to be a Blacksmith's Shop and it still retains the round window holes and shutters.  The well appointed bedrooms are in the converted village school building situated just behind the Inn.  After a short rest 18 members gathered in the lounge for pre-dinner drinks and canapés before taking our places in the dining room for the 'Fine Dining Experience'.  It was an excellent meal - proving it was a worthy winner of the AA's 2008 best restaurant award..

After a good breakfast we set off on the route home via Pebbles where bagpipes were being played at the start of their highland games.  Then on towards Selkirk and down the B709 towards Langholm with a short break at the Tibetan Monastery Eskdalemuir.  A carvery lunch was booked at The Cross Keys Hotel Canonbie which brought the weekend to a close and we took our various route back home.  Our thanks go to Ruth and Malcolm for all their hard work in organising this event.
