Friday 10th July bright and early, saw a Mark ll, an E-Type, an XJ-6 and an XJ-S, set off from Brough to wend their way down the Dales to the Ascot House Hotel, Harrogate, where they were to meet an S-Type and a XK8 ---what a line up!  First, however, was the obligatory coffee stop, this time at Bolton Castle. Solway Jaguar has “coffeed” in some spectacular places and this baronial great hall was certainly another not-to-be missed location.
Onwards to Aysgarth Falls, then the “Cat Pottery” and West Burton Falls. Another coffee stop was enjoyed at Masham and then finally to Harrogate after a brief stop at Alexanders of Boroughbridge where the car we all wanted to take home was a Masseratti Quattro Porte.

Saturday started off with a “Yorkshire Breakfast” which fortified the ladies for a day at the shops and the men for either a day’s motor racing at Croft or a day at the Yorkshire Air Museum. At the end of the day it was back to the beautiful dining room at the Ascot for another lovely meal and an evening of light hearted quizzes and although we were invited to join members of the Cricket Club who were holding their annual dinner in the function room we gracefully retired to bed. This relaxed lifestyle is no easy option I can tell you!

Sunday morning saw us putting the chamois leathers to work before setting off for Newby Hall. On arrival the gazebo was quickly erected and our cars arranged artistically on the stand. We were joined by two more XJ-6’s and a Mercedes 350 SL.
Another successful Northern Day came to an end with everyone managing to spot something the others had missed so we shall have to go back again next year! Sunday night was rounded off with a meal at the Black-A-Moor at Ripon and drinks in the bar back at the hotel.

After a leisurely breakfast we said our fond farewells to some, while others made their way back via the Trough of Bowland and back up to Kirby Lonsdale and through the Lakes home. Oh and we had another coffee stop at Boundary Mill in Colne on the way.
