Four cars and crew met up at Lloyd Jaguar, Carlisle on a day that looked anything but settled from the weather aspect. Ken and John were in John's Series Two XJ6, Carolyn and Robin in their XJS, Jean and Frank in their Daimler 2½ & Sue and Paul in their XJS . After picking up
Jill on the way out of Carlisle they all made their way to Wallington
Hall, which is not far from Morpeth, travelling via the Old Roman Road and Chollerford. |

On arrival they were directed to their usual Solway Jaguar spot near the cafe and were soon joined by Pauline and Brian in their superbly presented XK8. Drying the cars off two or three times and putting up the gazebo seemed to take up the first couple of hours but things calmed down after that and there were some very sunny periods. |
Nigel Thorley, from the JEC, was in attendance bringing with him their Raffle Car. He took a lot of photographs so we may see some in the JEC magazine. The club were very
successful in the Grand Raffle with Pauline winning a huge basket of
fruit and Frank a box of chocolates and a car book. |

The event was well supported with perhaps a hundred cars but there seemed to be fewer members of the public this year. After packing up at about 4 pm, Ken and John had to make a quick get-away back to Carlisle but the rest of the Solway Entrants were invited back to Pauline and Brian's home in Hexham to partake of some very nice refreshments. Verdict: A Grand Day Out |
