The Stoneybeck Inn on the A6 north of Penrith has been the club venue for meetings throughout the year. Tom, the licensee, suggested we held a club car display event and the idea was eagerly taken up by the committee. Tom kindly supplied free refreshments to club members who demonstrated their gratitude with donations to the Cumbria Air Ambulance. The event started at 12 noon and at its’ peak there were twenty five cars on display. |

The earliest Jaguars were two 1950 MK 1 saloons and two XK150 sports cars, together with faithfully produced road useable replicas of a D Type and a XKSS of which there are very few originals. 1960's cars were a Jaguar 240 and a Daimler V8 2½ saloons. 1970's cars included a V12 E-Type and two XJ6L saloons. |
1980's a Jaguar XJ40 saloon and a 1988 XJS V12 convertible. 1990’s sports cars of XJS and early XK8 models and a X300 executive saloon. Two new generation S-Types were on display together with the very latest Jaguars, kindly provided by Lloyd Jaguar of Carlisle for the day. They were an aluminium bodied XK8 4.2 litre and the top of the range 5 litre supercharged XFR. |

The event attracted at least two Jaguar enthusiasts from the north east and we also had two members bring along an Austin Healey 3000 and a MGB GT. Cumbria Air Ambulance personnel were in attendance and collection boxes were filled throughout the day. A heavy shower mid afternoon did not dampen spirits and there are plans to hold a similar display next year. Ken Jardine |
