The Yorkshire weekend was excellent and our thanks go to Keith & Gill for organising such an enjoyable, varied and interesting event.
After an early morning start on Friday 15th June 2007 the Yorkshire Event began at Brough when 5 cars set off in convoy, destination Pickering. The original route was changed because of the heavy rain forecast but we were still able to enjoy the journey through picturesque Wensleydale calling at Hawes for a coffee break and for the 6th car to join us. Driving on through heavy rain & flooded roads we reached Thirsk for a late lunch. By which time the rain had stopped and the rest of the weekend was fine except for the odd shower.
Lunch was very enjoyable and also memorable for Pat who happened to be in the basement when it was plunged into darkness after rain water fused all the lights! After lunch we made our separate ways to the hotel at Pickering. Keith had supplied masses of information to each driver so that everyone could pick out the attractions they wanted to visit on the way.

On Saturday each couple again decided which places they wanted to visit. Some went by train to Whitby and Goathland (Aidensfield) while others drove to other attractions including York. In the evening, when we arrived back at Pickering, the party had increased to 18 for Saturday night and we all had an excellent meal at the hotel ‘The Old Manse’.

Keith had arranged for us to visit Castle Howard and display our Jaguars in front of the majestic building on Sunday morning. It was a wonderful experience and numerous photos were taken.

After visiting Castle Howard some of the party drove to West Knapton to view the classic cars at Grundy Mack’s garage and then to Matthenson’s at Thornton-le-Dale to view more classic cars.
On Monday morning the 5 remaining couples made their way home by various routes. It had been an excellent weekend and we are all very grateful to Keith and Gill for organising such an excellent and well informed weekend.
