As Solway Jaguar Club's premier event of the year loomed ever closer all eyes were firmly fixed on the long range weather forecast, which to be honest looked far from promising all week. Sunshine and showers seemed to be the best we could hope for. As the day arrived, so did the monsoon and it looked as though it was set for the day. However, by early afternoon the rain stopped and out came the chamois. All in all the weather could have been better, but it certainly could have been a lot worse.

Seven cars turned up from the North East where the weather was reported as significantly better and a staggering ten cars turned up from Scotland, Some with a five hour plus drive to look forward to, to get back to Aberdeenshire.

In total our stand had a record breaking thirty seven cars on display, with only three no shows. A fantastic achievement considering the less than perfect weather conditions.

Lloyd Jaguar supported this year's Club Stand with a brand new XK convertible and an X Type estate

There were fourteen Car Club Stands this year, with the award for best Stand going to the Subaru Owners Club. Maybe it was a step too far to expect to win the award two years running, but I must admit we were all a little disappointed especially given the tremendous effort involved in organising such a large number of vehicles. What do we have to do to win back the title?

Thanks must go to Ken who had arrived early to mark out the Solway plot, pitch camp and organise the cars into date order, even cutting the grass where the Gazebos were to be pitched!  Well done Ken, your efforts are much appreciated.

This year’s barbeque was as popular as ever, providing an excellent menu for over 80 club members and guests
