25th May 2003
Approximately 10 vehicles, owners and families, took part in the run through the Keilder Forest on Sunday 25 May 2003. Organised by Brian Green, it was a top notch day enjoyed by all. The only hic up being our inclement northern weather late in the afternoon.
Members assembled at the clubs meeting place, the Rulehome Pub and proceeded along the A69 to Greenhead where the Military Road was accessed for the drive to Chester's Fort and or walled garden. After a brief break it was on to the Pheasant Inn for a top notch lunch and the usual natter and viewing of each others cars.
The rest of the day was spent viewing the area around the Keilder resevoir with all of it's facilities for sailing and outdoor pursuits. We all finished up at Keilder Castle where a display and in depth description of the history of the area was on display as well as the obligatory GIFT SHOP. A welcome coffee and shelter from the persistent heavy rain, a viewing of the castle and then the drive home via Newcastleton and Canonbie.
A great day out and eagerly anticipated after the cancellation of the day out due to last years Foot and Mouth epidemic. Many thanks to Brian Green for organising a top day.
